Course Description And Objectives:


  • Learn the effects of radiation exposure in utero
  • Understand how in utero exposure affected individuals after birth including mortality rates
  • Understanding the different individual health problems depending on how close their mother was to the hypocenter of the blast
  • Learn how males and females were affected differently by the radiation exposure after birth

Course Description

This course examines the effects of individuals that were in utero at the time of the atomic bombing in Hiroshima and Nagasaki in 1945 and how the radiation dose they received while in utero affected them later in life. How it affected in utero development, what types of medical problems did they have after birth, and how the radiation exposure affected males and females differently.

This activity may be available in multiple formats or from different sponsors. A self-learning activity can be completed only once per biennium.
